Bryan Adams' EXPOSED exhibition in Paris presents a captivating series of intimate portraits, blending striking black-and-white and vibrant color images that reveal the unique relationship between the celebrities and the artist.
Since the 1990s, Bryan Adams – aside from his successes as a singer and songwriter – has made an outstanding parallel career as a photographer, winning several awards for his camera work. Since the very beginning, Adams has focused on the art of the portrait, dedicating a variety of series to this challenging genre.
In Paris, Galerie Andres Thalmann is showing the second part of the exhibition Bryan Adams – EXPOSED. The artist shares with us portraits of many celebrities from the worlds of entertainment, fashion and the arts. Some are in elegant black-and-white; others – such as from his latest series In Colour – captivate with their bright colours. Adams’ work is characterised by a subtle depth, perhaps only possible because of the trust between fellow stars, one in front of the camera, the other behind it. The resulting portraits are very intimate and enjoyable studies, each with plenty to say about the nature of both celebrity and humanity. The exhibition in Paris is characterised by a unique selection of works that differs from the exhibition in Zurich where the first part was shown.
