Artist couples are not uncommon in the art world - Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely, Sophie Taeuber and Hans Arp or Sonia and Robert Delaunay, to name but a few. For the first time, Galerie Andres Thalmann is dedicating an exhibition to the work of an artist couple. Nigel Hall and Manijeh Yadegar have been married for many years and are certainly no strangers to the art market, even if Hall is increasingly in the public eye.
Both find their inspiration in the landscape, for example in the south of France or the Engadine, and yet the realisation of their respective artistic positions varies.

Yadegar's painting is simple and breathtaking at the same time. First she prepares her canvas with an impasto layer of paint - often an earthy tone - which is covered as if with a liquid veil of colour of various densities.
Hall is one of the most prominent representatives of European sculpture and is particularly concerned with the exploration of weighting, in which he combines clear, curved forms to create a dynamic interplay.
Galerie Andres Thalmann is extremely pleased to be showing the sculptures of Nigel Hall - a long-standing artist of the gallery - for the first time in dialogue with the canvas works of Manijeh Yadegar.
